On the heels of the release of “Shutter Island,” which may be closer even than “Cape Fear” to Alfred Hitchcock’s style for the world’s greatest film auteur Martin Scorsese, here is a very rare short film that explicitly connects the two great masters. You’ll hear Bernard Herrmann’s score to “North by Northwest” and you’ll see Scorsese’s life-long editor, Thelma Schoonmaker, in the faux documentary.
